Professional football’s championship game wasn’t much of a thriller, (the Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos 43-8) but a couple of Intuit-sponsored ads kept things interesting for those tuned in for the commercials. And the excitement carried over to the next day, with a bell ringing ceremony in New York City.

ttax_screenshotA TurboTax spot, “Love Hurts,” aired during the first quarter, depicting a rejected suitor watching “some guy named Sean” bustin’ moves on the dance floor at the prom with the girl he wants to date. It’s all part  of the new Tax Year 2013 TurboTax brand campaign, “It’s Amazing What You’re Capable Of.” The campaign celebrates hard-working North Americans and the incredible things they accomplish every day.

goldie_screenshotA 30-second spot in the third quarter, “Come on Bring the Toys,” spotlighted GoldieBlox, winner of Intuit’s Small Business Big Game competition. GoldieBlox, based in Oakland, Calif., makes toys designed to spark young girls’ interest in engineering. The startup was the top vote-getter in the six-month campaign sponsored by QuickBooks.

Bell Ringer at Nasdaq

Intuit’s super weekend didn’t end with the final gun. CEO Brad Smith rang the opening bell at the Nasdaq Stock Market on Monday. He was accompanied on stage with representatives from GoldieBlox and the three other Small Business Big Game finalists, Barley Labs, Locally Laid Egg Company and Poop – Natural Dairy Compost.

Here’s how the Nasdaq opening looked.
